Report: Larkin to leave Michigan, will join Grand Rapids for AHL playoffs (Updated)

From TSN’s Aaron Ward:

Larkin will reportedly join Grand Rapids on an amateur tryout. The Griffins kick off the Western Conference Finals Sunday in Utica.

Larkin, the 15th overall pick in the 2014 draft, was on the United States team that won bronze at the recent World Championship in the Czech Republic. The 18-year-old forward said earlier in the month that he was still weighing whether to go pro or return to Michigan for a second season of college hockey.

Update: The Red Wings made the signing official on Thursday afternoon…

The club also confirmed that Larkin would join the Griffins in time for their series against the Comets.
