A 27-year-old male attending Wednesday’s Game 3 between Tampa Bay and Montreal was arrested for bringing a gun to the game, per the Associated Press.

Someone saw Lucas Cassidy drop the gun inside a bathroom at the Amalie Arena on Wednesday night and notified authorities. When a Tampa police officer confronted Cassidy, he told her he had a gun in his pocket.
Police say that because Cassidy has a valid concealed weapon permit, he will face a second-degree misdemeanor charge of bringing a gun to a sporting event, rather than a felony charge. Police say he wasn’t screened properly when he arrived at the arena.
Tampa Bay won the game 2-1, taking a 3-0 stranglehold on the series in the process.
Per an NHL spokesman, all league arenas currently have some form of wanding and/or walk-through security detection currently in place. There are plans to further enhance security measures for the start of next season, in which all 30 buildings will have walk-through magnetometers.
