Burrows released from hospital, won’t travel with team to Vancouver

Vancouver forward Alex Burrows, held out of Tuesday’s Game 4 after being hospitalized with a broken rib, has been released from care but will remain in Calgary overnight and not travel with the team, per head coach Willie Desjardins.

Desjardins said Burrows is staying in Calgary as a precautionary measure.

Earlier this morning, Burrows was stretchered out of the Saddldome and taken by ambulance to the hospital after getting hurt during the A.M. skate. He was reportedly yelling “help” as he left the ice, with team doctors reportedly in tow.

The Canucks later announced he’d suffered an upper-body injury, with TVA Sports reporting a broken rib.

Burrows’s presence was missed in Vancouver’s 3-1 loss this evening. The 34-year-old had been a consistent presence through the first three games, scoring two points while averaging 14:22 TOI per night.
