There’s been some confusion over the penalties handed out in the final minutes of Friday night’s 4-1 Vancouver Canucks victory over the Calgary Flames.
The two clubs combined for over 100 minutes in penalties with less than two minutes remaining in the third period.
Deryk Engelland racked up 42 minutes in penalties on his own including three game misconducts. According to Sportsnet’s Eliotte Friedman, the three game misconducts do not warrant an automatic suspension; however, Engelland received an instigator penalty in the final five minutes, which could force him to miss a game.
