After a spirited voting session, the results are here -- congrats to the St. Michael-Albertville arena in Albertville, Minnesota and the Decatur Civic Center in Decatur, Illinois for emerging as the two Western finalists for Kraft Hockeyville 2015.
The lone finalist from the “State of Hockey,” St. Michael-Albertville Arena is unique in that it houses two communities in the same arena.
The Decatur Civic Center hosts both the “Tournament of Friends” — an annual event now in its 25th year — and the Decatur Flames youth hockey team; this year, the pee wee Flames won the Illinois state championship.
Though it’s Decatur and St. Michael-Albertville advancing, all 10 of the Western finalist rinks announced last week will walk away winners -- Kraft is providing arena upgrades at varying levels to all communities who made it to the Top 10.
