We’re into the playoffs now and the Philadelphia Flyers aren’t a part of it. After a rough season, Craig Berube’s future as the Flyers’ head coach is very much in question. Berube hasn’t gotten a ringing endorsement by GM Ron Hextall, but Flyers leading scorer Jakub Voracek went to bat for him during The Comcast Network’s Breakfast on Broad.

“Of course I want him back,” Voracek said. “I think everybody wants him back, because he’s a player’s coach.”

Hextall is still weighing his options, but one has to wonder if he’s holding out to see who else might be available. There could be a number of high profile coaches on the market this summer, including potentially Mike Babcock.

Berube has drawn criticism in particular for his use of veteran Vincent Lecavalier and it seems unlikely that the two will start seeing eye-to-eye going forward. The Flyers also had one of the worst road records in the league at 10-20-11.
