Earlier in the evening, the Buffalo Sabres secured last place in the NHL’s overall standings, giving them the best chance in getting the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

Also earlier in the evening, it was announced that Jack Eichel became the first freshman since 1993 to win the Hobey Baker award.

Well, then Connor McDavid went and scored five goals for the Erie Otters in an Ontario Hockey League playoff game against the London Knights on Friday, upping his offensive totals to 10 goals and 18 points in seven post-season games in 2015.
