The San Jose Sharks have called up forward Bryan Lerg from AHL Worcester, where the 29-year-old has led the baby Sharks in scoring with 41 points (13G, 28A) in 66 games.
Undrafted out of Michigan State, Lerg has never played an NHL regular-season game. He signed with the Sharks this summer after spending time in the Colorado organization.
No word yet if Lerg will be in the Sharks’ lineup for any of their remaining three games. San Jose hosts Dallas tonight before finishing the season on the road in Edmonton and Los Angeles.
Lerg won a national title at MSU in 2007, along with teammates (and future NHLers) Justin Abdelkader, Tim Kennedy and Chris Mueller.
