Lightning will only sell playoff tickets to Florida residents

From the Tampa Tribune:

Tampa Bay Lightning single-game playoff tickets went on sale today, but if you live outside of Florida you are out of luck.

The Lightning are restricting sales to state residents. Any tickets purchased via credit card without a Florida address will be canceled and issued a refund without notice.

“We don’t feel the need to apologize for doing our best to create a home atmosphere for our season ticket members and our team,’’ team spokesman Bill Wickett said.

He’s right. They don’t need to apologize. Especially if they can sell out their games without any help from non-Lightning fans.

Tampa Bay’s first-round opponent is still very much up in the air. The most likely is Detroit, though Boston is a distinct possibility too. The Islanders, Penguins, Capitals and Senators are also in the running.
