The Detroit Red Wings announced just before the start of Tuesday’s game against the Arizona Coyotes that defenseman Niklas Kronwall wouldn’t be available due to a lower-body injury. Now they’re also missing Erik Cole because of an upper-body issue, per MLive’s Ansar Khan.
Cole logged 5:32 minutes of ice time in the first period and will not be able to return before the conclusion of the contest.
Detroit acquired the 36-year-old forward and a conditional draft pick from the Dallas Stars on March 1 in exchange for Mattias Backman, Mattias Janmark, and a 2015 second round pick. The Red Wings have given him a big role by pairing him up with Henrik Zetterberg and Justin Abdelkader.
Cole had three goals and six points in 10 contests with Detroit going into tonight’s contest.
