From the Langley Advance, a suburban Vancouver newspaper:
Former NHL and Langley minor hockey player Stephen Boyd Peat has been charged with arson for allegedly attempting to burn down a Brookswood home last week. ...
The home that burned in Brookswood is listed as the residence of a Walter Peat.
The RCMP reported last week that they were looking for the adult son of the homeowner following the fire.
Peat reportedly surrendered to police on Thursday. Click the story for more details. (Per The Province, here’s a picture of the fire damage. Peat’s father was apparently in bed inside the house when the fire was lit but managed to escape unharmed.)
Peat, 35, played 130 NHL games for the Washington Capitals. He’s perhaps best remembered for his fight with PJ Stock.
