The Toronto Maple Leafs announced the signing of free agent forward and Penn State University scoring standout Casey Bailey to a two-year entry-level contract on Saturday.
Bailey, who just completed his junior year and had one more year of eligibility left, led Penn State in goals with 22 this season. He also had 211 shots on goal, which was 91 more than his nearest teammate in that category.
“We showed interest as soon as he was eliminated ... several other teams involved. He liked fit in terms of opportunity,” said Leafs general manager Dave Nonis, as per Mark Masters of TSN.
Nonis confirms plan is for Casey Bailey to get in game before end of season ... no specific timeline at this point, however
