Ray Emery was supposed to be the back-up for the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. Steve Mason was listed as the starter.

But when the puck dropped between the Flyers and Edmonton Oilers, Emery was in net and Mason wasn’t even on the bench, according to reports.

Rude welcome to the game for Emery, who allowed a goal from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins just 51 seconds into the first period.

Updated: Mason was back on the bench for the second period. According to reports, he felt sick during warm-up.
