NBC has a matinee game set to start at 12:30 p.m. ET. The Detroit Red Wings will be looking to bounce back after suffering a humbling 7-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. They’ll catch a bit of a break against Pittsburgh as Evgeni Malkin is out due to a lower-body injury, per the Penguins’ Twitter feed. Sidney Crosby (illness) will take part in the pregame warmups, but is still regarded as a game-time decision.
Pittsburgh is within striking distance of the second seed in the Metropolitan Division and the first round home-ice advantage that would come with it. By contrast Detroit needs to stop the bleeding before it potentially slips down to a Wild Card spot.
