As one might come to expect, the Calgary Flames had to play from behind against the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday. Only for a few minutes early on, however.
After spotting the Ducks a 2-0 lead less than three minutes into the first period on goals from Ryan Getzlaf, the Flames came roaring back to score a 6-3 victory, which means they move back to within a point of the Vancouver Canucks, who sit second in the Pacific Division.
Meanwhile, not a good night at all for the Ducks.
They surrendered seven shots on goal through the final 40 minutes. The Flames scored on four of those. That’s not good — for the Ducks or their goalie John Gibson, at least.
After battling back to tie the game by the end of the first period, the Flames surged ahead with three goals in the second and another in the third. Rookie Johnny Gaudreau scored twice, hitting the 50-point plateau after he finished off a pretty passing play.
