Black ‘n Blueshirt: Klein (arm) sent home after blocking Ovechkin shot

A bit of bad news from what’s been an otherwise outstanding week for the Rangers — on Thursday, the club sent defenseman Kevin Klein back to New York for evaluation on his left arm, hurt while blocking an Alex Ovechkin shot during Wednesday’s win over the Capitals.

From the New York Post:

Klein, 30, is enjoying the finest offensive campaign of his career this season, with career highs in goals (nine) and points (26) through 65 games. The former Predator is also averaging 18:29 TOI per night and sits second on the team in blocked shots (115) — which is appropriate, given the nature of his injury.

The Rangers have today and Friday off before a back-to-back weekend set in Buffalo on Saturday, then home at MSG against the Panthers on Sunday. No word yet on Klein’s availability for either of those contests.
