Two Metropolitan Division rivals made moves for the future on Tuesday, as the New York Rangers agreed to terms with WHL Calgary forward Adam Tambellini while the Philadelphia Flyers inked QMJHL Blainville-Broisbriand center Danick Martel.

Tambellini, 20, was New York’s third-round pick (65th overall) at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The son of ex-Oilers GM Steve Tambellini and younger brother of former NHLer Jeff, Adam is in the midst of a banner campaign with the Hitmen, leading the team with 45 goals and 79 points in 65 games.

Martel, also 20, is an undrafted free agent that’s lit up the QMJHL this season, with 102 points in 63 games. While diminutive -- listed at 5-foot-8, 162 pounds -- he has been a remarkably consistent scorer this season, sitting second in the Q with 48 goals.
