Report: NHL investigated alleged Clutterbuck spit on Sedin

Per TSN, the Vancouver Canucks asked the NHL to look into a potential spitting incident involving Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck and Vancouver’s Daniel Sedin, stemming from a goalmouth scrum during the Canucks’ 4-0 win on Long Island Sunday.

From Darren Dreger, on Insider Trading:

“The video evidence here doesn’t show anything, but the Canucks just wanted the league to take a close look. The league did. There was blood everywhere, it was a dangerous situation, but the league found no evidence that any of this took place.

“So as far as the National Hockey League is concerned, it’s case closed.”

There’s no video available of the alleged incident, but Sunday’s game was a chippy affair with Clutterbuck occasionally in the mix. The gritty forward didn’t receive any penalties during the game but did take a swipe at the Vancouver bench late in the third period:
