From the Orange County Register:
The domestic-battery trial of Kings defenseman Slava Voynov, scheduled to begin Monday, is now likely to be delayed one week because of scheduling conflicts. ... Conversations between Judge Eric Taylor and the lawyers in open court indicated that Voynov’s trial will now begin March 9.
Obviously, not the news the Kings were looking for. Though you have to wonder if they’ve already written off his chances of playing this season.
For now, Voynov remains suspended indefinitely by the NHL.
It’s not clear what might happen if Voynov is convicted. As noted here, it’s possible he could face deportation.
For that matter, it’s not clear what might happen if Voynov is acquitted. While there’s no video evidence in the Voynov case, it’s worth noting that Ray Rice was never convicted of a crime. What if Voynov is acquitted but the NHL remains convinced he did something wrong?
Not a simple situation, to say the least.

Even if he’s acquitted, the NHL won’t immediately lift his suspension; the league will want to conduct its own process in deciding when Voynov gets cleared for active status.
The Kings have sought clarity from the league on the subject and while there’s been good communication between the club and the league, there is no firm clear answer.
