Zetterberg lets Benn off the hook -- ‘He just got me in a bad spot’

Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg will miss his second straight game when the Red Wings play the Kings tonight in Los Angeles.

Given the “symptoms” Zetterberg is experiencing, there’s speculation the 34-year-old may have suffered a concussion on Saturday in Dallas, courtesy a gloved shot in the head from Stars captain Jamie Benn.

But in a refreshing turn, Zetterberg decided to let Benn off the hook.

“I don’t think it was that bad,” he said, per the Wings’ website. “He just got me in a bad spot. ... We had a battle on the face-off and I think both me and him have done worse things than that on the ice.”

Naturally, Red Wings fans have been somewhat less understanding. But like Zetterberg says, “It is a battle sport, so you are in battles all the time.”

The Wings play Thursday in San Jose and Saturday in Nashville before returning home.
