Boston’s David Krejci still needs to be re-evaluated after he was hurt on Friday, but there’s concern that he’s sustained a long-term injury that will make him unavailable for a good chunk of what’s left of the 2014-15 campaign, per Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos.

The report also stated the problem is with his knee. For his part, Bruins coach Claude Julien has stated that Krejci’s injury is “totally different” from the Bruins forward’s previous injury, but has otherwise not gone into a lot of detail yet about the nature of the issue.

Krejci left Friday’s contest after checking Alexander Steen. You can see the incident below:

The 28-year-old has been limited to just 38 contests this season and his latest setback couldn’t have come at a worse time. Although the Bruins earned a 6-2 victory against Chicago on Sunday without Krejci, they have secured just four points in their last seven games. Boston is holding onto the second Wild Card spot and needs to pick up the pace in order to stave off the Florida Panthers (three points back) and Philadelphia Flyers (four points behind).

The good news is that Boston will play five of its next six games at home. The squad 17-9-4 at the TD Garden compared to 12-12-5 on the road.
