Tampa Bay solidified its goaltending depth on Monday by signing journeyman Allen York to a two-way NHL deal.

York, 25, was already with the organization (on an AHL contract with Syracuse), but spent some time in the ECHL this season when Evgeni Nabokov was with the Bolts and Andrei Vasilevskiy and Kristers Gudlevskis were with the Crunch.

Following Nabokov’s departure, Vasilevskiy became Ben Bishop’s No. 2 in Tampa Bay, leaving York to platoon with Gudlevskis in the American League. This new two-way contract will allow York to move up and down freely in the event Bishop or Vasilevskiy gets hurt, as York does have some NHL experience; the former R.P.I standout made his big-league debut with Columbus in 2011-12 and fared well, appearing in 11 games with a 3-2-0 record, .919 save percentage and 2.30 GAA.
