The Ottawa Senators have confirmed that goalie Robin Lehner and forward Clarke MacArthur both been diagnosed with concussions following a scary incident on Monday against Carolina:
The incident occurred late in the second period of Ottawa’s eventual 6-3 loss. Lehner was able to get up and leave the playing surface under his own power, but MacArthur needed assistance (though was able to leave without having to be stretchered off.)
There does not appear to be any timetable for return for either player. MacArthur and Lehner both missed Wednesday’s 4-2 win over Montreal and will presumably be out for Saturday’s game at home against Florida.
Lehner, who had been starting and was the goalie of record in nine straight games with Craig Anderson out injured, will be replaced by AHL Binghamton call-up Andrew Hammond. And in a move linked to the MacArthur injury, the Sens recalled ’11 first-rounder Matt Puempel from Bingo last night.
