The Columbus Blue Jackets battled back from two deficits, but they could not withstand the Islanders’ final onslaught in New York’s 6-3 victory Saturday night.

The Islanders’ top line led the charge with John Tavares recording two goals and four points, including the final two markers of the game. He now has 26 goals and 55 points in 56 games this season.

Josh Bailey also found the back of the net twice with Tavares assisting on both goals.

The Islanders have now scored at least three goals in each of their last four games and have won all of those contests as a result. That stretch is particularly encouraging when the absence of key forward Kyle Okposo (upper body) is factored in. The Islanders initially struggled without his presence, but they’ve bounced back and consequently have a three-point cushion in the battle for the Metropolitan Division title.
