Blackhawks’ decision-making was ‘tough to watch’ last night

The Chicago Blackhawks surrendered five goals in last night’s overtime loss to the Canucks.

That doesn’t happen often at the United Center, where the ‘Hawks are 16-7-3 this season, and it left coach Joel Quenneville fielding questions about his defense.

“It wasn’t defending as [much as it was] the poor decisions we made with the puck that led to all their action,” he said, per CSN Chicago.

“We made some good plays in the offensive zone but some of the decisions we made with the puck were tough to watch.”

For example...

Johnny Oduya (he made the bad pass) and Michal Rozsival (he...um...not sure what he was doing there...playing forward?) had a particularly tough night as a pair. And if we’re being honest, neither veteran has had a great season.

As a result, more and more Blackhawks fans have begun to question the wisdom of trading Nick Leddy to the Islanders, and to a lesser degree, are asking if it was smart to deal Adam Clendening to Vancouver.

What’s done is done, of course. The ‘Hawks, barring a trade, will have to make do with what they’ve got.

“Every game is different in how we distribute the ice time,” Quenneville said, per ESPN Chicago. “We have a lot of options, a lot of versatility with a lot of guys playing with different partners in the course of games.”

The ‘Hawks host the Devils Friday.
