Ryan Hamilton has finally scored his first National Hockey League goal -- at the age of 29. Been waiting a long time.

Hamilton, whose first full pro season was with the Houston Aeros of the AHL back in 2006-07, opened the scoring for the Edmonton Oilers on a deflection during a power play in the first period against the New York Islanders on Tuesday.

Bad news for Hamilton and the Oilers: They lost by a final score of 3-2 on a late goal from Casey Cizikas.

“It was definitely a good feeling... It’s a pleasure to be up here playing at this level and helping wherever I can,” said Hamilton, as per the club’s Twitter account.
