Evander Kane will have shoulder surgery, Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice announced today.

The 23-year-old winger is expected to require 4-6 months to recover from the operation, effectively ending his season.

This news, of course, follows what’s been a bizarre week for Kane and the Jets following his surprise absence from Tuesday’s game in Vancouver.

That absence, as it turns out, was reportedly due to a run-in he had with teammates.

Add it all up and it’s highly likely that Kane has played his last game as a member of the Jets and will be traded sometime prior to next season.

Whether that trade occurs prior to the March 2 deadline or sometime in the offseason, we’ll have to wait and see.
