Report: Referee Peel suspended one game for bar photo

Per various reports, veteran official Tim Peel was suspended one game -- Friday’s Devils-Penguins affair in New Jersey -- after a photo of him at a bar surfaced online.

The photo, part of Yahoo’s interview with Peel conducted Thursday evening, shows Peel holding a shot alongside Puck Daddy lead writer Greg Wyshynski (Wyshynski on the left, Peel on the right.)

Peel was scheduled to referee Devils-Pens following evening but was reportedly taken off assignment, resuming work on Saturday at MSG for the Rangers-Hurricanes tilt.

He’s also scheduled to call tonight’s Lightning-Blues game at Scottrade Center.

In an email to PHT, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said the league had no comment on the report.

“Our relationship with our officials, including how we schedule them to games, is an internal League matter that we would not discuss publicly unless there was a need to,” he explained.
