As they gear up for this afternoon’s game against the Nashville Predators, the Pittsburgh Penguins have almost as much going on when it comes to injury updates. Let’s go one-by-one, then:
- After practicing on Saturday, Evgeni Malkin was making some serious progress toward returning. It looks like he’s aiming for a Wednesday comeback against the Edmonton Oilers, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
- That same report notes that Christian Ehrhoff hasn’t been officially diagnosed with a concussion, yet he’s dealing with symptoms of one. NHL.com’s Wes Crosby provides an update: he’s still undergoing testing and it’s not clear if he can travel with the team.
- With Ehrhoff out, Derrick Pouliot gets another chance to make an impression for Pittsburgh.

A lot to soak in, huh?
To the Penguins’ credit, they’re still generating a nice amount of standings points with all of these injuries. The Predators (and returning forward James Neal) should present plenty of competition today, though.
