Tuesday night’s Rangers-Islanders game scheduled for Nassau Coliseum could be postponed due to a blizzard scheduled to hit the New York area.
“[It is] possible [the NHL could announce a postponement], but there is no set deadline or time line,” an NHL spokesperson told the New York Post. “We stay on schedule unless and until we have to postpone.”
As Larry Brooks points out, the Rangers, Islanders and the arena are free Wednesday for a possible re-scheduled game.
The Rangers have already had one game postponed this season.
A Nov. 21 game against the Buffalo Sabres was rescheduled to Feb. 21 due to weather issues.
The Islanders have won both meetings between the two clubs this season including a 3-0 victory on Jan. 13. The Isles won the first meeting 6-3 on Oct. 14.
