Forward Dennis Rasmussen might make his NHL debut on Wednesday when Chicago returns from the break. The Blackhawks announced that he has been recalled and Kris Versteeg has been moved to the long-term injured reserve list.

Versteeg hasn’t played since suffering a hand injury during the Winter Classic on Jan. 1. He was originally expected to miss four weeks, which would have led to him returning towards the end of January, but coach Joel Quenneville recently suggested that timetable was no longer accurate.

“It’s probably going to be a little bit more than that,” he warned.

Rasmussen, 24, excelled in Sweden’s top league last season with 16 goals and 40 points in 52 contests. That led to the Blackhawks inking him to a one-year, two-way deal on June 10. He’s gone on to record eight goals and 16 points in 44 games with the AHL Rockford IceHogs.

Chicago’s game on Wednesday will be against the Los Angeles Kings and air on NBCSN. It’s scheduled to start at 10:30 p.m. ET.
