Kimmo Timonen got some good news recently when it was revealed that the blood clots in his lungs are gone, but he’s still dealing with clots in his leg. He can’t return while he’s on blood thinners and the question still being asked is: Will he ever play professionally again?
Flyers GM Ron Hextall doesn’t want to make that call yet.
“I don’t want to make a decision and then go back on it,” Hextall told CSN Philly.
“There’s a gray area with this whole thing and a lot of questions to be asked and we just want to make sure we are turning every stone over to get every piece of information to make a decision here.”
We might have an answer in the very near future though as Hextall plans to meet with more medical specialists.
The 39-year-old defenseman still wants to play, but he isn’t interested in attempting to extend his career to the 2015-16 campaign. In other words, the window for him to make his return is rapidly closing.
The Flyers could certainly use his help if it is possible for him to safely play. They have had a hard time filling the void left by his absence and recently their blueline has been battered by injuries.
