Cory Schneider left Friday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks after the first period due to an upper-body injury, the result of taking a shot up high, according to reports.
According to Tom Gulitti of The Record, an X-ray was not necessary for Schneider, who stopped 14 of 15 shots in the opening period. Keith Kinkaid played the remainder of the game for New Jersey, stopping 21 of 25 shots as the Devils lost to the Ducks 5-1.
“He got hit with a shot in the first period. He’s feeling better right now, but he couldn’t go back in,” said Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello, as per the club’s Twitter account.
Schneider has played in 40 of 46 games this season. He leads the league in shots faced (1,133) and saves (1,041).
That Lamoriello said upper body and no X-ray needed might mean that shot hit Schneider in mask. Maybe a head issue?
