In a season filled with low points, the lowest of Buffalo’s campaign might’ve occurred on Thursday night in a 7-0 drubbing from Minnesota -- which happened at home, in front of the First Niagara Center faithful.

Today, we saw the fallout from said beating:

Sabres’ Drew Stafford on the fans: “After a game like last night, I’m surprised that people are still showing up.”

More of Stafford’s venting, from the News:

“There’s enough talk,” forward Drew Stafford said. “I’m sick of the meetings. I’m sick of the keywords.

“Just show something, show some sort of life, show some sort of response from yesterday. There’s no use beating it to death, analyzing it anymore, talking about it. I’m ready to move on. I know everyone in here is ready to move on and get back to work. It’s almost beating a dead horse at this point talking about it.

“I’m sick of it.”

Friday’s practice consisted of head coach Ted Nolan bag-skating his team. The Sabres went nearly 40 minutes without touching pucks, instead doing series of laps and various sprints.

“Punishment, learning all in one,” Zemgus Girgensons said of the rigorous practice. “It’s definitely the right thing to do. We definitely need something to get us going.”

The Sabres haven’t had a regulation win since Dec. 11 (4-3, over Calgary) and their last win of any kind came on Dec. 27. Things don’t promise to get any easier, either -- after Saturday’s home date versus Philly, the club sets out on a five-game road swing that begins in Detroit and ends in Montreal (with a three-game Western Canada stretch in the middle.)

Nolan agreed with Stafford on how the Sabres need to turn things around.

“Enough talking,” the coach said. “We have to start doing.”
