On Friday, Colorado announced that rookie forward Borna Rendulic broke his leg in last night’s win over Florida, and would miss at least the next eight weeks as a result.
Rendulic, the first Croatian-born player in NHL history, has one goal and two points through 11 games this year. The 22-year-old began his season in AHL Lake Erie -- where he had eight points in 26 games -- and earned his call-up to the Avs in early December.
Rendulic impressed Roy in his limited time with the Avs.
“I was very happy with Rendulic,” Roy told the Denver Post in early January after promoting the rookie to Colorado’s second line. “I liked his speed and size.”
