In an attempt to gauge interest in Mike Richards the L.A. Kings reportedly had conversations with both the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs.

According to hockey insider Pierre LeBrun, talks stalled as a result of the money remaining on Richards’ deal.

The 29-year-old still has five years remaining on his 12-year, $69 million contract, which carries a cap hit of $5.75 million.

Richards has five goals and 15 points to go along with a minus-8 rating in 44 games this season. He’s also seen his ice time drop from nearly 17 minutes a night to under 14.
