The New Jersey Devils entered tonight’s game with the L.A. Kings as one of the league’s bottom dwellers when it came to scoring, sitting 28th in the NHL in goals-for per game.

The Devils then erupted for five goals in the first two periods against the Kings, chasing goalie Martin Jones after he allowed three goals on eight shots. Jonathan Quick entered the game, then proceeded to allow two goals on seven shots.

Hockey can be an odd game sometimes.

Speaking of odd: Jones was back in the L.A. net to begin the third period.
