Former NHLer Lashoff joins AHL Bridgeport

After spending parts of the last three seasons in Europe, 28-year-old defenseman Matt Lashoff is once again trying to make it in North America. He started his comeback bid by signing with AHL Bridgeport, per the team’s website.

Bridgeport is the AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders.

Lashoff started the season with Novokuznetsk Metallurg of the Kontinental Hockey League and had two assists and 14 penalty minutes in 23 contests before joining Bridgeport.

He was originally take by the Boston Bruins with the 22nd overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He has a goal, 15 assists, and 59 penalty minutes in 74 career NHL contests with the Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
