To some extent, it’s a special night any time Sidney Crosby plays against a Canadian team. Even so, the nights Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins face off against the Montreal Canadiens are probably extra special to him.
Crosby really went toe-to-toe with Montreal Canadiens center Tomas Plekanec on Saturday, and while his underrated opponent made things difficult, Crosby got the last laugh by scoring the overtime game-winner on the power play (or OT PP GWG, if you love acronyms):
The game served as an enticing match between two of the East’s best teams, with the Penguins (obviously) taking the 2-1 OT win.
To the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s Josh Yohe, this win may very well serve as a catalyst for Pittsburgh, especially with what could be a very intriguing game coming up against the New York Islanders (who dispatched Columbus 5-2 tonight):
Wouldn't be surprised if that win jump starts the Penguins. Played well last two games. Getting healthier. Showdown on Island six days away.
