Kevin Klein and Lee Stempniak scored 19 seconds apart in the second period and Martin St. Louis netted the game winner at 8:18 of the middle frame as the New York Rangers edged the L.A. Kings 4-3.

It was the first time the two teams met since last spring’s Stanley Cup final, which the Kings won in five games.

Dan Boyle had the other Rangers’ goal while Cam Talbot made 28 saves for the win.

Justin Williams, who won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP, scored twice for the Kings and Tanner Pearson had the other.

Jonathan Quick made 22 saves in the loss.
