The Philadelphia Flyers are down to five defensemen for the remainder of the game as Nicklas Grossmann left late in the first period tonight against the Washington Capitals.
Grossmann took a hit from Capitals’ forward Tom Wilson and the club announced soon after that he had suffered an upper body injury.
The 29-year-old left the game with 1:41 left in the first after receiving a penalty for delay of game.
Grossmann, who has appeared in all 40 games this season, has three goals and five assists while averaging 18:25 in ice time.
