According to Sportsnet’s John Shannon, Steve Staios, the club’s player development advisor will move down stairs and join Horacheck and assistant coach Steve Spott for Wednesday night’s game against the Washington Capitals.
Staios, 41, has been in his position with the club since July 2012.
Prior to joining the Leafs, Staios appeared in 1,001 NHL games over parts of 16 seasons with the Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, Atlanta Thrashers, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and New York Islanders. In total the forward registered 56 career goals and 220 points to go along with 1,322 penalty minutes.
