The Nashville Predators’ eventual 7-6 overtime win against the Los Angeles Kings basically had “weird” written all over it.
There were a staggering amount of deflection goals. Jonathan Quick didn’t even make it through 10 minutes of the game on his 10th consecutive start. The Predators held a 5-1 lead at one point.
The oddest stretch came toward the end of the contest, however, as the Predators saw a 6-3 lead dissolve into a 6-6 tie in about a minute-and-a-half of action. That mad rush included two goals as the Kings emptied their net (video will be added soon).
It’s one of those games that make reasonable tweets like these look that much odder in retrospect:
Entering today, Kings had a 15-1-4 record this season when scoring at least 3 goals.

(Now the Kings are 15-1-5 in such contests.)
One would think that this one would really sting the Predators if they lost. Instead, head coach Peter Laviolette has a talking point or six, even if Nashville ended up grabbing the win and the two points.
Maybe more than anything else, it’s a lesson to be careful about when you turn off a hockey game during the 2014-15 season.
