WASHINGTON — Kris Versteeg’s Winter Classic appears to have come to a premature end.
The Chicago forward, who played over 11 minutes through the first two periods, was injured blocking an Eric Fehr shot early in the third period and left the game:

Versteeg, 28, was enjoying a quality campaign prior to getting hurt. He has nine goals and 27 points in 33 games this season, on pace to break his career-high of 54 points.
