Flyers goalie Steve Mason was injured at the very end of Friday’s practice during the shootaround that players do before heading to the dressing room.
He was attended to by trainer Jim McCrossin and members of the coaching staff.
Mason remained on the for more than a minute before being helped to his feet. He had to assisted by trainer Jimmy McCrossin and coach Gord Murphy to get to the dressing room. From the way he made a save and then landed on the ice, it appeared that he could have hurt his back.

To repeat: Mason injury seemed significant. He couldn’t leave ice under his own power. He’s being attended to right now.

Mason has been one of the few bright spots for the Flyers this year, posting relatively solid numbers (2.49 GAA, .921 save percentage) despite an ugly 6-10-5 record. He was also very good in last night’s 2-1 shootout loss to Florida, stopping 31 of 32 shots in regulation and overtime.
The Flyers next play in Toronto on Saturday night, which kicks off a lengthy eight-game road swing that continues through Winnipeg, Minnesota, Nashville, Arizona, Colorado, Carolina and New Jersey.
