The Pittsburgh Penguins needed overtime to beat the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, but skilled offensive defenseman Christian Ehrhoff was forced to leave the game early with an unidentified injury.

The Penguins, thanks to a goal from Blake Comeau in overtime, defeated the Avalanche by a final score of 1-0, although both teams combined for 77 shots on goal.

Bad news: Ehrhoff left the game after the first period and did not return. It’s unclear what, exactly, the injury is and how long it may keep him out.
