Kyle Palmieri’s hard-luck season continued on Wednesday, as the Ducks sent him back to Anaheim for further evaluation on his shoulder injury.

The injury occurred during a 6-2 loss to Toronto last night. Palmieri didn’t play the final eight minutes of the contest and will now miss the rest of the team’s road trip (the Ducks play in Montreal on Thursday and Ottawa on Friday).

Palmieri, 23, had already missed extensive time earlier this season with an ankle injury; while he’s only appeared in 15 games, the former first-round pick has produced well, scoring five goals and nine points, which included four points in his last five games.

With Palmieri out, the Ducks recalled Emerson Etem from AHL Norfolk and placed him on the second line, next to Ryan Kesler and Matt Beleskey. Etem’s played in 21 games this year, scoring four points.
