The Buffalo Sabres have acquired forward Jerry D’Amigo, 23, from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for 24-year-old forward Luke Adam.

“We feel that this was a good deal that gave both teams a player they were looking for,” said Sabres GM Tim Murray. “Jerry brings a tremendous work ethic to our organization and we know he’ll have an immediate impact with the Amerks. Luke has been a steady force for our clubs since he was drafted in 2008 and we wish him luck as he joins the Blue Jackets’ organization.”

Both D’Amigo and Adam have been productive players in the AHL, but have been unable to stick at the NHL level.

D’Amigo, drafted 158th overall in 2009, had one goal and two assists in the 22 NHL games he played last season for Toronto. He’ll join the Sabres’ AHL affiliate in Rochester.

Adam, drafted 44th overall in 2008, has 15 and 11 assists in 87 career games for the Sabres. He had eight goals and 12 assists in 27 games for the Americans this season.
