Bishop’s injury not believed to be a ‘severely long-term deal’

The Tampa Bay Lightning don’t believe Ben Bishop’s injury is a serious one, but they’re going to keep him out the next little while anyway.

“I don’t think this is a severely long-term deal, but with goaltenders, especially your starter, this is game 32 or wherever we’re at right now, there’s a long season and you need [Bishop] for the long term,” coach Jon Cooper said, per NHL.com. “He physically cannot go. We’ll reevaluate on the weekend.”

Bishop suffered a lower-body injury during Monday’s loss to Pittsburgh. The Lightning today called up goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy from the AHL.

Tonight against the Flyers, it will be either Vasilevskiy or veteran Evgeni Nabokov getting the nod in goal. Cooper said it will be a game-time decision.
