The Pittsburgh Penguins aren’t saying Sidney Crosby has the mumps, but they’re going to hold him out of the next two games anyway.
“There is no indication at this time that this is the mumps, but we are going to hold him out as a precaution,” GM Jim Rutherford said. “We’ll have additional test results in a few days.”
According to the club, medical specialists made the recommendation based on test results that came back today.
This morning, Crosby appeared to have swelling on the right side of his face, his appearance leading many to wonder if he had the mumps.
Crosby missed practice yesterday due to an unspecified illness. He’ll now miss tonight’s home game versus Calgary as well as tomorrow’s contest in Columbus.
